Public health experts from KFF Health News recently highlighted two critical health crises in national media appearances. On May 5, Céline Gounder, editor-at-large for public health at KFF Health News, discussed the deadly hantavirus outbreak linked to cruise ships on PBS NewsHour, Fox’s LiveNow From Fox, and CBS News’ CBS Mornings.
Gounder returned to the topic the following day, appearing on NPR’s Morning Edition on May 6 to further analyze the outbreak’s implications.
Separately, Elisabeth Rosenthal, KFF Health News’ senior contributing editor for health news analysis, addressed the worsening national emergency room (ER) boarding crisis in interviews on April 28. She appeared on PBS’ Amanpour & Co. and WNYC’s The Brian Lehrer Show to discuss the issue.
Rosenthal also authored an in-depth report titled A ‘Barbaric’ Problem in American Hospitals Is Only Getting Bigger, which explores the systemic challenges driving ER boarding across the U.S.
