Nintendo has announced a global price increase for its Switch 2 console, citing changes in market conditions as the primary reason. The company also expects a decline in sales over the next year as a result of the adjustment.
The new pricing structure will take effect in phases across different regions. In the United States, the Switch 2 will cost $499.99 starting September 1, 2024, up from its current price of $449.99.
Price Increases by Region
- Canada: The console will rise to $679.99 from $629.99, an increase of $50.
- Europe: The price will go up by €40, bringing it to €499.99 (approximately $587).
- Japan: Price adjustments begin earlier, on May 25, 2024, and affect a broader range of Switch products. The Switch 2 will increase from ¥49,980 (about $318) to ¥59,980 (about $382).
Additional price hikes for other Switch models in Japan are also expected, though specific details were not provided in the announcement.
