The Philadelphia Eagles' offseason program kicked off this week, but star wide receiver A.J. Brown will not be participating. According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Media, Brown is holding out as he awaits clarity on his future with the team.
While Brown remains on the Eagles' roster, the prevailing belief in the NFL is that he will join the New England Patriots by the start of the regular season. A trade between the two teams is reportedly in the works, though it may not materialize until after June 1 to avoid cap penalties.
Both the Eagles and Patriots are currently in the voluntary phase of their offseason programs, with mandatory minicamps scheduled for later in June. Until then, Brown’s status remains in limbo.
For the Eagles, the focus shifts to their other wide receivers. DeVonta Smith, Dontayvion Wicks, and Hollywood Brown are expected to be key contributors come September, filling the void left by Brown’s potential departure.
