Anthropic has expanded its AI capabilities with the launch of Claude Design, a new research preview that allows subscribers to generate designs, prototypes, slides, and more using the company’s latest vision model, Opus 4.7.
"Claude Design gives designers room to explore widely and everyone else a way to produce visual work," Anthropic stated in its announcement. Unlike traditional image generators, this tool focuses on creating functional visual assets rather than whimsical images.
The process begins with a text prompt, which users can refine through conversation, inline comments, and direct edits. A standout feature is the ability to generate custom sliders that correspond to specific design elements, allowing for real-time adjustments. For example, users can tweak the glow and density of arcs in a network illustration.
Anthropic has also developed an onboarding process where Claude builds an internal visual language by analyzing an organization’s codebase and design documents. "Every project after that uses your colors, typography, and comments automatically," the company explained. Additional features include support for image and document uploads, a web capture tool for enterprise customers, built-in sharing, and direct exports to Claude Code.
In the coming weeks, Anthropic plans to simplify the integration process for third-party tools. The release of Claude Design coincides with Adobe and Canva’s own visual AI assistants, though Anthropic allows users to export projects to Canva.
The new tool is available as part of Anthropic’s Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise subscriptions, with usage subject to existing limits.
