Fox has announced that the highly-anticipated Baywatch reboot will premiere in January 2025. The network revealed this during a press conference on Monday, ahead of its upfront presentation in New York City.

In addition to the reboot, Fox unveiled two new series: the espionage thriller The Interrogator and the unscripted series Marriage Market.

Fox’s Strategy to Replicate Midseason Success

The decision to air the Baywatch reboot in January reflects Fox’s strategy to emulate the strong performance of its midseason launches earlier this year. These include:

  • Best Medicine: Achieved 10.8 million total multiplatform viewers for its first episode.
  • Memory of a Killer: Garnered 16.2 million total viewers for its first episode across platforms and encores.

However, not all midseason premieres have succeeded. Going Dutch, which also premiered in January, has since been canceled.

“We’ll use midseason and all the levers that we have at Fox with sports and our marketing strategy. We hope to repeat what we did last season with our new shows.”
— Michael Thorn, President of Fox Television Network and Fox Entertainment

Strong Advertiser Interest in the Baywatch Reboot

Baywatch has already attracted significant advertiser interest. The series secured Toyota as its exclusive automotive partner, and Fox is in advanced negotiations with a beer brand for sponsorship, according to Katrina Cukaj, Executive Vice President of Entertainment Advertising Sales for Fox Corporation.

What to Expect from the Baywatch Reboot

During its original 11-season run, Baywatch became the most-watched show in the world, airing in over 200 countries and reaching more than a billion viewers weekly. The reboot promises to deliver the same adrenaline-fueled rescues, complex relationships, and electrifying chemistry as the original NBC series.

The new series follows Hobie Buchannon (Stephen Amell), a Baywatch Captain who steps into his father Mitch’s footsteps. His world is upended when his daughter, Charlie Vale (Jessica Belkin), arrives on his doorstep. The cast also includes Shay Mitchell, Hassie Harrison, Thaddeus LaGrone, Noah Beck, Brooks Nader, Livvy Dunne, and original cast member David Chokachi in recurring roles.

The reboot is co-produced by Fox Entertainment and Fremantle, with Matt Nix (Burn Notice) serving as showrunner and executive producer. The executive producer team also includes McG, Michael Berk, Greg Bonann, Doug Schwartz, Dante Di Loreto, and Mike Horowitz.

Fox Unveils New Espionage Thriller: The Interrogator

Fox also announced The Interrogator, an upcoming espionage thriller written and executive-produced by actor and comedian Stephen Fry. The series is set to premiere during the 2026-2027 television season and is based in Washington D.C.

The show follows Conrad Henry (Fry), a former MI6 agent, and his handpicked team of outsiders. Henry relies on his charm, wit, and unconventional behavioral tactics to extract information when traditional interrogation methods fail. The cast includes Jenna Elfman, Jessica Sula, Michael Beach, Luke Kleintank, and Maria Zhang.

The Interrogator is co-produced by Lionsgate Television and Fox Entertainment. Dan Dworkin and Jay Beattie serve as executive producers and showrunners, with Fry also executive producing alongside William Harper and Paul McGuigan.
