Bose has unveiled its latest Lifestyle Ultra Collection, introducing a trio of audio devices designed to compete with Sonos. The lineup includes the $299 Lifestyle Ultra Speaker, the $1,099 Lifestyle Ultra Soundbar, and the $899 Ultra Subwoofer. All three products are now available for purchase directly from Bose as well as through third-party retailers such as Amazon and Best Buy.
Introducing the Bose Lifestyle Ultra Speaker
The $299 Lifestyle Ultra Speaker is positioned as Bose’s answer to the Sonos Era 100. It is available in black and white variants at Amazon for $299, while a beige version is exclusively sold on Bose’s online store for $349. The speaker features a front-firing woofer and tweeter, along with an up-firing driver, delivering impressive sound quality for its size. According to a hands-on review by John Higgins, the speaker offers surprising depth and crisp vocal clarity.
The Lifestyle Ultra Speaker supports multiple streaming platforms, including Apple AirPlay, Spotify Connect, and Google Cast. It also allows users to group it with compatible non-Bose speakers via AirPlay and Google Cast for multi-room audio. Notably, it is the first third-party speaker to support Amazon’s Alexa Plus, powered by generative AI.
Lifestyle Ultra Soundbar: Enhanced Home Theater Experience
Bose has also introduced the Lifestyle Ultra Soundbar, priced at $1,099, which supports Dolby Atmos for an immersive audio experience. Available at Amazon, Best Buy, and Bose, the soundbar impressed reviewers with its clear dialogue and wide soundstage. However, its low-end performance was noted as somewhat lacking during testing.
Ultra Subwoofer: Deep Bass for Balanced Sound
To complement the soundbar, Bose has launched the $899 Ultra Subwoofer, available in black and white at Amazon, Best Buy, and Bose. When paired with the soundbar, the subwoofer significantly enhances the bass response, delivering a fuller and more balanced audio profile. Together, the soundbar and subwoofer create a more complete home theater experience.
