Veteran NFL defensive end Calais Campbell is set to extend his career for a 19th season after agreeing to a one-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The agreement ensures Campbell will play his second stint with the Ravens, following his initial tenure from 2002 to 2020. During that period, Campbell recorded 113 tackles, 11 sacks, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries.
In his most recent season with the Arizona Cardinals, Campbell started all 17 games, posting 43 tackles and 6.5 sacks. The 2019 Walter Payton Man of the Year Award winner has also played for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Atlanta Falcons, and Miami Dolphins since being selected by the Cardinals in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft.
The timing of the deal ensures Campbell’s signing will not impact the formula for distributing compensatory draft picks for either the Ravens or the Cardinals.
