The Los Angeles Chargers have officially signed second-round pick Jake Slaughter, according to the NFL’s transaction report for Monday. Slaughter becomes the sixth of the team’s eight 2026 draft selections to complete his four-year rookie contract.
Slaughter, who played center at the University of Florida, was a finalist for the Rimington Trophy last season. However, the Chargers signed Tyler Biadasz in free agency, prompting a position change for Slaughter.
“Jake’s been our top center through the entire process there,” said head coach Jim Harbaugh via the team’s official website. “With the ability to play guard, at least he’ll get a real good, fighting chance to compete for the starting position.”
The Chargers still have two unsigned draft picks: first-round edge rusher Akheem Mesidor and fourth-round wide receiver Brenen Thompson.
