Elon Musk has reignited his public criticism of Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film ‘The Odyssey’ after the director confirmed the casting of Lupita Nyong’o in dual roles as Helen of Troy and her sister Clytemnestra.

In a Tuesday interview with Time, Nolan addressed long-standing rumors about the film’s cast, which also includes Elliot Page as Achilles. The confirmation sparked immediate backlash from right-wing figures, including commentator Matt Walsh, who posted on X (formerly Twitter):

“Not one person on the planet actually thinks that Lupita Nyong’o is ‘the most beautiful woman in the world.’ Christopher Nolan knows that he would be called racist if he gave ‘the most beautiful woman’ role to a white woman. Nolan is technically talented but a coward.”

Musk, who owns X, responded with a single word: “True.”

Another X user shared a meme mocking Elliot Page’s casting, featuring Achilles struggling to open a pickle jar. Musk, who has been estranged from his transgender daughter Vivian Wilson—who has called him “a pathetic man-child”—responded with: “Banger.”

Musk also weighed in on other criticisms of the film. When a user posted a fan clip of Brad Pitt in ‘Troy’ as an alternative to Nolan’s adaptation, Musk replied: “Troy is an epic movie.”

These latest posts follow Musk’s history of attacking ‘The Odyssey’ over its casting choices. In January 2026, he tweeted:

“Chris Nolan has lost his integrity.”

The criticism stemmed from a post arguing that Nyong’o’s casting in roles traditionally associated with white actresses was an “insult to the author”—referring to the ancient Greek poet Homer, who lived around the 8th century BC.

Representatives for Nyong’o and Page did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The Odyssey is set to release in theaters on July 17, 2026. The film has already sold out multiple opening screenings in IMAX 70mm, a year ahead of its premiere.
