Rookie cornerback Thaddeus Dixon’s chances of making the New York Giants have suffered a devastating setback after he tore his Achilles during a workout on Wednesday, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media.
At this time, the Giants have not made any roster moves in response to the injury. However, Dixon is expected to land on the injured reserve list, effectively ending his rookie season before it begins.
Dixon signed with the Giants as an undrafted free agent following the 2025 NFL Draft. Prior to joining New York, he played in seven games for the North Carolina Tar Heels during the 2025 season. Before his time at North Carolina, Dixon spent two seasons at the University of Washington, where he recorded 20 tackles and two tackles for loss.
His collegiate career also included playing under head coach Bill Belichick during his time at North Carolina.
The Giants have bolstered their cornerback depth with recent additions, including drafting Colton Hood in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft. The team also signed free agent Greg Newsome and currently features a strong group of cornerbacks: Paulson Adebo, Dru Phillips, and Deonte Banks.
