The Green Bay Packers are making a roster move to sign veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor, which will result in the release of Desmond Ridder. According to NFL Media insider Tom Pelissero, Ridder’s departure is imminent.
Ridder, who joined the Packers in December 2024, did not appear in any games during his time with the team. His exit leaves the Packers with four quarterbacks on the roster: Taylor, Jordan Love, Kyle McCord, and rookie Kyron Drones.
Before joining the Packers, Ridder spent time with the Cincinnati Bengals and Minnesota Vikings last year. His most recent regular-season action came in six games for the Las Vegas Raiders in 2024. Selected in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Ridder made 17 starts for the Atlanta Falcons during his first two NFL seasons.
Over his NFL career, Ridder has completed 322-of-503 passes for 3,544 yards, 14 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.
