Native Instruments, a leading developer of music production software and hardware, is being acquired by inMusic Brands, the parent company of Moog Music, Akai Professional, and Numark. The deal will integrate Native Instruments’ suite of tools—including Traktor DJ software and the Kontakt sampling platform—into inMusic’s expanding ecosystem of music technology brands.
According to a report by MusicRadar, Native Instruments CEO Nick Williams confirmed in March that the company was actively seeking a buyer. This followed the announcement that Native Instruments had entered bankruptcy proceedings in Germany, a move Williams described as part of a strategic restructuring process.
In a blog post announcing the acquisition, Williams framed the deal as a pivotal moment for the company. He stated:
"This acquisition marks a fresh start. For our brands—Native Instruments, iZotope, Plugin Alliance, Brainworx—all of it continues."
The two companies have a history of collaboration, though specific past projects were not detailed in the announcement. The merger is expected to strengthen inMusic’s position in the music technology sector, consolidating its control over a diverse range of industry-leading brands.
Native Instruments’ products, such as Traktor (a DJ software platform) and Kontakt (a sampler and sound library system), are staples in professional and home studios worldwide. The addition of these tools to inMusic’s portfolio further solidifies the company’s influence in both hardware and software segments of the music production market.
Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. The deal is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close in the coming months.
