Earlier this month, Anthropic announced that its Mythos Preview AI model was so effective at detecting cybersecurity vulnerabilities that the company restricted its initial release to a limited group of critical industry partners.

Mozilla has now weighed in, revealing that early access to Mythos Preview enabled it to pre-identify 271 security vulnerabilities in the newly released Firefox 150.

In a blog post published on Tuesday, Mozilla detailed how Mythos Preview analyzed the unreleased source code of Firefox 150 to uncover critical vulnerabilities before they could be exploited. The findings were significant enough to prompt Firefox CTO Bobby Holley to declare that “defenders finally have a chance to win, decisively” in the ongoing cybersecurity arms race.
While Holley did not specify the severity of the 271 vulnerabilities detected by Mythos, he provided context by comparing the results to Anthropic’s Opus 4.6 model, which identified only 22 security-sensitive bugs when analyzing Firefox 148 last month.
