Several hospitals across the United States have received federal grand jury subpoenas related to the provision of gender-affirming care to minors, according to a statement issued by NYU Langone.

This move indicates that the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has begun a criminal investigation into the matter. The subpoena issued to NYU Langone was sent last week by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas.

Scope of the Subpoena

The subpoena demands that NYU Langone provide detailed records, including:

  • Information on minors who received gender-affirming care between 2020 and 2026;
  • Names of the clinicians who provided the care;
  • Identities of any other individuals involved in the treatment process.

The hospital has not disclosed whether it will comply with the request or challenge the subpoena in court.
