Sarah Michelle Gellar Joins ‘Ready or Not 2’: Exclusive Behind-the-Scenes Clip Revealed

“Ready or Not 2: Here I Come” has arrived. The sequel to the 2019 cult classic was released theatrically this spring, quickly becoming a sleeper hit and solidifying the franchise as a major new player in horror cinema.

Now available for streaming at home via digital retailers such as Apple, Prime Video, and Fandango at Home, the film will also release on physical media—DVD and Blu-ray—on June 16. A brand-new behind-the-scenes clip offers a first look at one of the film’s most exciting additions: Sarah Michelle Gellar.

In the clip, new cast member Kathryn Newton shares her experience working with Gellar, calling her “genuine horror royalty.” Gellar’s credentials include her iconic role as Buffy Summers in Buffy the Vampire Slayer for seven seasons, as well as appearances in Scream 2 and I Know What You Did Last Summer. She also made a brief cameo in the legacy sequel to the latter last summer.

A standout moment in the clip features filmmaker David Cronenberg—renowned for classics like Scanners and The Fly—recalling Gellar approaching him to express how honored she was to appear in the film. Cronenberg responded that the honor was his, having her in the movie.

“Ready or Not 2” picks up immediately after the first film, with Grace (Samara Weaving) forced into another deadly game. This time, she faces off against her estranged sister Faith (Newton). Gellar portrays one of the film’s central antagonists—a member of a cabal of six elite Satanist families that orchestrates the deadly challenge. Shawn Hatosy, praised for his performance in The Pitt, plays Gellar’s brother in the film. As expected, the action is intense, with plenty of bloodshed.

“Ready or Not 2: Here I Come” is available now on digital platforms and will release on Blu-ray and DVD on June 16.
