Spencer Pratt has accused CBS of manipulating an interview with him to create a 'comical five-minute hit piece' for Karen Bass’ PR team, demanding the network release the full, unedited hour-long conversation.
In a Saturday X post, the former The Hills star stated:
“After CBS embarrassed Karen Bass by fact-checking her debate lies about the Palisades fire, they clearly got the call. CBS filmed with me on my burned-out lot for over an hour talking about crime, housing affordability, things that voters care about, and they turned it over to Karen Bass’s PR team to edit it into a comical five-minute hit piece with clips from ‘The Hills.’”
Pratt’s criticism targets CBS’ history of editing controversies. In July 2025, the network paid former President Donald Trump a $16 million settlement after he sued over deceptive edits in a 60 Minutes interview featuring Kamala Harris.
“They can’t beat my ideas,” Pratt continued. “They can’t beat me in the debates. So they got to try to turn my campaign into a sideshow. People are done with these skeezy political tricks, and I’m done with CBS. They should release the full unedited interview the voters deserve to hear from their next mayor.”
Pratt, who has been living in an Airstream trailer on his fire-damaged property, reiterated his demand on Saturday, sharing a link to a written version of the interview on CBS’ website. Neither CBS nor a spokesperson for Bass responded to requests for comment.
Pratt, 42, rose to fame in the mid-2000s as the antagonist on MTV’s The Hills. Initially dismissed as a novelty candidate, he has gained traction in polls following an aggressive social media campaign, an endorsement from Joe Rogan, and a strong debate performance.
