Subnautica 2, the most-wishlisted game on Steam, launches into early access today, delivering what developers call the series’ biggest release yet in terms of content and scope.
According to Unknown Worlds, the early access version includes approximately 14 to 20 hours of gameplay at launch, with a planned roadmap to add more content over the coming years. The game is priced at $29.99.
Developer Insights: Fan Support and Future Plans
Creative producer Scott MacDonald highlighted the overwhelming fan response, noting that Subnautica 2 has achieved five million wishlists on Steam.
"It's been very humbling to see the fan reaction and the amount of wishlists that we have. The reception has been incredible. We've had people join the studio specifically to work on this game who have been fans themselves. We as a team want to make sure we don't disappoint not only ourselves, but the fans out there, by making the best possible Subnautica 2 we can."
MacDonald also emphasized the significance of the early access launch, calling it the studio’s biggest and most content-rich release to date.
"I think our early access launch is our biggest that we've ever done, with the most amount of content. But at the end of the day, I think it's one of our best games we've ever launched into early access. I think it probably is the best."
