Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold is confident he will be fully ready for training camp this summer after recovering from offseason shoulder surgery. Speaking with Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, Arnold addressed concerns about his recovery timeline and his expectations for the upcoming season.
Arnold’s 2023 NFL campaign was cut short by a shoulder injury that required surgery during the offseason. Despite the setback, he remains optimistic about his return to full strength by the time the Lions report to camp in August.
“I know I’m expected to be there,” Arnold said. “I don’t know what I’ll be able to do before the offseason program, but I’m looking forward to being out there with my team.”
The 2024 first-round pick reflected on his development last season, noting that he was making strides before the injury disrupted his progress. “Before I got hurt I was getting in my groove, figuring things out,” Arnold explained. “Started playing my best ball and then just dealing with that injury, nagging it, so I’m just excited to see where I’ll be at with not having any injuries.”
Detroit finished the 2023 season with a 9-8 record, missing the playoffs by a narrow margin. While Arnold’s recovery is a positive step, the Lions will need more than his return to health to improve on last year’s disappointing outcome. His presence in the secondary, however, could provide a much-needed boost to the team’s defensive efforts in 2024.
