The Houston Texans have secured the future of linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair with a three-year contract extension worth $54 million, according to NFL Media. The agreement, first reported earlier this offseason, solidifies Al-Shaair’s role within the team’s defensive core.
The $18 million average annual value (AAV) places Al-Shaair third among linebackers in yearly salary, trailing only San Francisco 49ers’ Fred Warner and Chicago Bears’ Roquan Smith.
Al-Shaair’s extension follows a strong 2025 season, his second with the Texans and first as a Pro Bowl selection. During that campaign, he compiled 103 tackles, two interceptions, and nine pass breakups.
This offseason, the Texans have extended contracts for multiple key defensive players, including:
- Defensive end Will Anderson Jr.
- Defensive end Danielle Hunter
- Tight end Dalton Schultz
- Kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn
