The 2026 NFL Draft kicks off in just days, but Draft Week is officially underway. For the latest first-round projections, check out our updated NFL mock draft.
My draft week began with a conversation with expected No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza. While we discussed his favorite play from last season—revealing a surprising pick—more content on that soon. Until then, here are the latest draft rumors to keep you updated.
Adam Schefter’s Latest Draft Week Buzz
NFL insider Adam Schefter released an extensive report outlining the top rumors as Draft Week begins. His insights serve as a key reference point for the latest developments.
Jeremiyah Love: A Potential Top-Three Pick
Many analysts consider Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love the best football player in the 2026 draft class. His ceiling is sky-high—Schefter previously projected Washington at No. 7 as Love’s floor, but his ceiling could reach the third overall pick.
“There are some who believe he could go as high as No. 3 to Arizona,” Schefter noted.
The Cardinals, still exploring trade options, would prefer moving up to acquire more picks. However, if they stay at No. 3, some league sources believe Arizona could draft Love as an early surprise.
Even if the Cardinals trade out of No. 3, Love could still land in that spot. On Sunday, Cardinals beat writer Johnny Venerable reported that Arizona has engaged in trade discussions with the Kansas City Chiefs. While the Chiefs may target a pass rusher, they’ve also been linked to Love throughout the pre-draft process—even after acquiring Kenneth Walker III.
Could Ty Simpson Fall Out of the First Round?
According to Schefter, the Chiefs-Rams trade involving cornerback Trent McDuffie may have hurt Alabama QB Ty Simpson’s draft stock the most.
Schefter’s sources indicate Simpson was a target for the Rams at No. 29, a common projection in early mock drafts. However, the Chiefs-Rams trade altered the Rams’ draft strategy, potentially pushing Simpson’s availability later in the first round.
