The San Francisco 49ers made a roster move on Thursday, waiving defensive back Tre Tomlinson.
The team announced the decision but did not make any corresponding roster additions or subtractions. Earlier in the week, the 49ers signed running back Sincere McCormick, safety Patrick McMorris, and eight undrafted rookies.
Tomlinson’s NFL Journey and Injuries
Tomlinson was originally selected by the Los Angeles Rams in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He recorded 13 tackles across 15 games during his rookie season in 2023.
However, his 2024 campaign was cut short when he was placed on injured reserve. The 49ers claimed him off waivers from the Rams last offseason, but he again spent the entire season on injured reserve.
Roster Implications and Next Steps
The 49ers may continue to adjust their roster in the coming days. They could clear additional space before or after next week’s rookie minicamp, potentially accommodating new additions.
