The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) announced on Friday the confirmation of a new Ebola outbreak in the remote Ituri province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). As of the latest update, there are 246 suspected cases and 65 deaths associated with the outbreak.
According to the official statement from the Africa CDC, the majority of the cases and fatalities have been recorded in two specific health zones: Mongwalu and Rwampara.
