A Suzuki GSX-R1000R was launched onto a traffic light in British Columbia, Canada, after colliding with a turning BMW 3-Series near a mall entrance. The incident left even veteran first responders stunned as the motorcycle came to rest dangling from the traffic light structure.

The surreal accident occurred just before 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the busy intersection of Scott Road and 71st Avenue in North Delta. Videos shared on social media, including by Sarbraj Singh Kahlon on X and Reddit users, show the motorcycle—identified as a Suzuki GSX-R1000R 40th Anniversary Edition—being launched into the air by the force of the impact with a silver BMW 3-Series sedan.

After a brief flight, the motorcycle landed on the horizontal arm of the traffic light, with its front wheel hooked over the metal structure. CCTV footage reveals the rider being thrown forward and landing on the pavement.

The BMW appears to have been making a left turn into a mall entrance at the intersection. Speed may have played a role in the collision, leaving the motorcyclist with almost no time to react.

The video suggests the rider applied the brakes hard enough to lift the rear wheel off the ground, but it was insufficient to avoid or soften the impact. The nose of the sedan acted as a launch ramp, sending the motorcycle airborne.

Despite the dramatic visuals, the outcome was less severe than it appeared. Authorities reported that the motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The BMW driver, however, walked away unharmed.

Delta Firefighters, local police, and the British Columbia Emergency Health Services arrived at the scene to provide immediate care. Following the rescue, fire crews assisted in bringing the superbike back to the ground and clearing the debris.
