Want to tell your mom you love her without lifting a finger? A new service called Cards for Agents claims to do just that—automating the entire process of writing and mailing a Mother’s Day card using AI.
How Cards for Agents Works
The service integrates with popular AI systems like Anthropic’s Claude and OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Users paste a code into the AI, which then composes the order via the Cards for Agents API. The checkout process is handled through Postable, a third-party service that prints, handwrites, and mails the card. The entire process costs $7.23, including the card and postage.
The service’s website boasts: “Your AI can finally send your mom a real card. Ask for one, review the preview, and we hand you off to Postable to pay — they print it, handwrite it, and drop it in the mail.”
Public Reaction: A Mixed Bag
Reactions to the service have been far from enthusiastic. Katie Notopoulos, a columnist for Business Insider, quipped: “Too lazy to write, stamp, and mail a Mother’s Day card? No prob, you can use Postables to type in the address and message, and it mails a real card. Too lazy to pick the card image, type a message and fill out her address? Now your Claude agent can do it.”
Behind the Scenes: Who’s Really Behind This?
The tight integration with Postable has raised questions about the service’s origins. A disclaimer on the site’s FAQ page states: “It’s an agent-friendly facade over their public site. Launch coordination is in progress,” leaving users uncertain about the true creators.
The FAQ page addresses the obvious question: “Why did you build this?” The answer provided is equally straightforward: “Because agents can book flights and order groceries, but they still couldn’t send your mom a card. Mother’s Day 2026 felt like a good, specific moment to fix that one thing well.”
More on Mother’s Day 2025
This isn’t the only oddity surrounding Mother’s Day this year. Earlier in 2025, people noticed something very strange about a new “photo” of Kate Middleton.
