The Indianapolis Colts spent the offseason exploring trade options for Anthony Richardson, the No. 4 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Despite multiple attempts, no deal materialized, and Richardson has now made a significant change in his approach.

According to Stephen Holder of ESPN, Richardson reported to the Colts’ voluntary offseason program on Monday, ending a two-week absence from the team’s facilities.

While the Colts have not made progress in trading Richardson, they have also not indicated plans to release him. For now, Richardson remains with the team, though the Colts did not exercise his fifth-year option by the deadline, as was widely anticipated.

Richardson’s return provides the Colts with additional quarterback depth as Daniel Jones continues to recover from a torn Achilles tendon. The team also has Riley Leonard and Seth Henigan on the roster.

Over his first two seasons, Richardson started 15 games, but Jones won the starting job in last year’s training camp. Richardson’s season ended prematurely after a pregame accident left him with a fractured orbital bone in his eye, just as Jones suffered his Achilles injury late in the season.

In 17 career appearances, Richardson has completed 50.6% of his passes for 2,400 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions. He has also contributed on the ground, rushing for 634 yards and 10 touchdowns.
