Apple has named John Ternus as its next Chief Executive Officer, signaling a return to leadership rooted in product innovation. The announcement follows the tenure of outgoing CEO Tim Cook, who was widely recognized for his expertise in logistics and operations.
Ternus previously served as Apple’s Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering before being officially appointed to the top role. His public-facing role has grown in recent years, particularly in unveiling the company’s latest products.
Among his notable contributions, Ternus helped introduce the iPhone Air in September 2024, which stands out as the most distinctive iPhone in Apple’s 2025 lineup. He has also been instrumental in announcing new Macs, including Apple’s first computers powered by Apple Silicon in 2020. This transition to Apple Silicon profoundly transformed the company’s computer lineup, culminating in models like the 15-inch MacBook Air.
