The Arizona Cardinals made the first quarterback selection of the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft, taking Carson Beck with the 65th overall pick on Friday night.
No quarterbacks were selected in the second round, marking the first time since 2017 that no QBs were taken in rounds two or three. Beck’s selection comes after Fernando Mendoza and Ty Simpson were drafted in the first round.
Beck transferred to the University of Miami last year and led the Hurricanes to the national championship game. Prior to his move to South Florida, he spent two seasons as a starter at the University of Georgia, where he compiled:
- 11,725 passing yards
- 88 passing touchdowns
- 32 interceptions
- 69.9% career completion rate
The Cardinals currently have veteran quarterbacks Jacoby Brissett and Gardner Minshew on the roster. However, Brissett has been absent from the team’s offseason program while negotiating a contract adjustment.
