Bandai Namco has announced the opening of a Mega Kawaii Mart pop-up shop in Chicago, located within Mitsuwa Marketplace in Arlington Heights, Illinois. The store will officially launch on May 15, 2026, replacing the previous Tokusatsu pop-up that operated there in March 2026.
The pop-up shop will be situated at the back of the Mitsuwa branch, adjacent to the One Piece Card Game shop and Pastry House Hippo bakery. While the storefront is not yet open, preparations are underway.
What to Expect at the Mega Kawaii Mart Pop-Up
The Mega Kawaii Mart will feature a curated selection of merchandise, including:
- MegaHouse anime figures
- Mega Cat Project items – featuring cat versions of popular anime characters, including Nyaruto (a cat representation of Naruto Uzumaki)
- Look Up figures – including characters from Naruto and One Piece
- Merchandise based on Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia
- Four exclusive Gashapon machines with tie-in items, separate from the regular Gashapon setup near the Kinokuniya branch
Special Launch Event with Nyaruto Mascot
A launch event will take place on May 15–16, 2026, featuring a person in a Nyaruto mascot costume for photo opportunities. The mascot will be available for meet-and-greets between 11:00 AM and 11:30 AM CT each day.
