Blaze Entertainment, the company behind the cartridge-based Evercade consoles, has introduced two new handheld gaming devices that reimagine classic 1980s personal computers as portable gaming machines. The Spectrum Handheld and The C64 Handheld strip away the productivity features of their original counterparts, the ZX Spectrum and Commodore 64, to focus exclusively on gaming.

Each handheld comes preloaded with 25 retro titles and supports expansion via a microSD card. For those seeking a desktop gaming experience, both devices can be connected to a keyboard and joystick over USB.

Preorders for The C64 Handheld and The Spectrum Handheld are now open, though shipping is not expected to begin until October 2026 at the earliest.
