Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix recently completed a scheduled follow-up visit with Dr. Norman Waldrop in Alabama, where he underwent a clean-up procedure on his right ankle. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, the procedure was deemed “successful and anticipated.”

Nix originally suffered the fracture to his right ankle late in the Broncos’ divisional round playoff victory over the Bills. As a result, he missed the AFC Championship Game—the first game he has missed in his professional career.

Prior to his January 20 surgery, Nix described the injury as a “simple fracture”, estimating a recovery timeline of 4-6 weeks. At the time, he did not indicate the need for a follow-up procedure.

In March, team owner Greg Penner expressed confidence that Nix would participate in organized team activities, noting the quarterback was ahead of schedule in his rehabilitation.

Revised Timeline: Focus on Training Camp

Rapoport now reports that the Broncos plan to be “conservative” with Nix’s participation in the offseason program. The revised target for his return is training camp.

Coach Sean Payton Updates on Nix’s Progress

“We're excited about his progress. Nothing to report.”

Sean Payton, head coach of the Broncos, shared this update over the weekend via Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post. Payton added that Nix is “doing great.”
