Paramount Skydance CEO David Ellison was among the high-profile guests at a state dinner hosted by President Donald Trump at the White House on Tuesday evening.
The event, held in honor of King Charles III, brought together tech leaders, political figures, and athletes, including Chief Justice John Roberts and Supreme Court Justices Samuel Alito, Amy Coney Barrett, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Clarence Thomas.
Other notable attendees included pro golfer Rory McIlroy, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, and Fox News personalities Bret Baier, Laura Ingraham, Jesse Watters, and Rachel Campos Duffy.
Ellison’s presence is particularly significant given Paramount Skydance’s pending $12.5 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, which is currently under federal regulatory review.
Ellison’s Growing Influence in Washington
Just last week, Trump attended an event hosted by Ellison hours after Warner Bros. Discovery shareholders approved the merger. On Monday, Paramount Skydance filed a request with the FCC to allow foreign investors to hold more than 25% equity in Paramount, including specific approval for investors to hold up to 20% of voting interests.
A Paramount spokesperson told TheWrap that the filing is standard for such investments and not a condition for closing the merger.
“When the transaction and equity syndication close, the Ellison family and RedBird will collectively hold the largest equity stake in the combined company and continue to be the sole owners of Class A Common Stock, representing 100% of the voting shares, with no other equity syndication party having any governance rights, voting shares, or Board representation,” the spokesperson said.
“The combination of Paramount and WBD’s complementary assets will enhance competition while creating a strong champion for creative talent and consumer choice.”
Ellison’s high-profile appearances in Washington underscore his efforts to strengthen ties amid regulatory challenges.
