The Los Angeles Chargers have made a decisive move regarding Quentin Johnston’s future, exercising the fifth-year option on his rookie contract. The team officially announced the decision on Tuesday, ensuring Johnston will earn a fully guaranteed $18 million for the 2027 season.
Selected as a first-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Johnston has quickly established himself as a key offensive weapon for the Chargers. Over the past two seasons, he has led the team in touchdowns, demonstrating his red-zone prowess and reliability as a target.
Last year, Johnston delivered his most productive campaign to date, amassing a career-high 735 receiving yards across 14 games. His contributions were instrumental in bolstering the Chargers’ passing attack, which also features a deep and talented wide receiver corps.
Since entering the league in 2023, Johnston has accumulated 144 receptions for 1,877 yards and 18 touchdowns. The Chargers’ wide receiver room is further strengthened by standout performers such as Ladd McConkey, Tre’ Harris, and KeAndre Lambert-Smith, creating a competitive and dynamic group of playmakers for the offense.
