The Kansas City Chiefs have officially declined the fifth-year option on the contract of defensive end Felix Anudike-Uzomah, as confirmed by the NFL’s personnel notice.

The decision was widely anticipated because exercising the option would have fully guaranteed Anudike-Uzomah $14.5 million for the 2027 season. He is one of nine players league-wide to have their fifth-year option declined this year.

Anudike-Uzomah, selected by the Chiefs with the 31st overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, has struggled to secure a consistent role on the defensive line. He has started only three games since entering the league and missed all of the 2023 season due to a right hamstring injury.

In his career so far, Anudike-Uzomah has appeared in 34 games, recording:

  • Eight tackles for loss
  • Three sacks
  • Two forced fumbles
  • One fumble recovery

He has logged 550 defensive snaps during his tenure with the Chiefs.
