Former NBA player and assistant coach Damon Jones has pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, marking the first conviction in the latest NBA gambling scandal.

In a court statement, Jones admitted to using insider information obtained through his relationships as a former player. He stated, "I would like to sincerely apologize to the court, my family, my peers and also the National Basketball Association."

Jones was accused of sharing confidential details about players including LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

The charges stem from two alleged violations under the indictment:

  • Illegal use of inside information
  • Participation in an allegedly rigged poker game

Sentencing has been scheduled for January 6, 2027. According to the relevant sentencing guidelines, Jones faces a potential prison term of 21 to 27 months.
