This outcome reflects poorly on Colorado’s recruiting efforts, which span both high school prospects before the 2023 season and transfers via the portal—including one- and two-year players.
For comparison, four Colorado players from the 2024 team were selected in the 2025 NFL Draft:
- Travis Hunter (2nd overall, Jaguars cornerback/receiver)
- Shedeur Sanders (144th overall, Browns quarterback)
- LaJohntay Wester (203rd overall, Ravens receiver)

Additionally, no Colorado players were drafted in the 2024 NFL Draft.
In March 2025, Deion Sanders signed a five-year, $54 million contract extension with Colorado. Despite the investment, the team posted a 3-9 record in 2025, including a 1-8 mark in the Big 12. To reverse its fortunes, Colorado must secure more talented players and maximize their potential on the field.
