New York Giants General Manager Joe Schoen has categorically denied reports that the team was engaged in trade discussions involving edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux.
Shortly before the start of the second round of the NFL Draft, a report surfaced claiming the Giants were in talks with the New Orleans Saints and other teams about a potential deal that would have moved Thibodeaux off the roster. Schoen addressed the speculation head-on during a Friday night media session.
"We have not had any conversations about Kayvon Thibodeaux today," Schoen stated, according to multiple reporters. "That's not true."
Thibodeaux is entering the final year of his rookie contract, and the Giants' recent addition of safety Arvell Reese has further expanded their defensive options. While a trade involving Thibodeaux had been floated as a possible solution to address other roster needs, Schoen's denial suggests such a move is not under consideration at this time.
