The New York Giants are exploring options to bolster their defensive line following the trade of defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence to the Cincinnati Bengals. According to the NFL's transaction report on Tuesday, the Giants hosted a visit with veteran free agent defensive lineman Benito Jones.

Jones, who has played in the NFL since 2020, brings a mix of experience and production to the table. Over the past two seasons with the Miami Dolphins, he started 23 of his 31 appearances, recording 39 tackles and 1 sack. His NFL journey began as an undrafted free agent with Miami in 2020, where he appeared in six games as a rookie. In 2021, he spent the season on the Dolphins' practice squad before being claimed off waivers by the Detroit Lions in 2022.

During his time with the Lions, Jones contributed in 34 games, totaling 42 tackles and 2.5 sacks. His career totals now stand at 81 tackles and 3.5 sacks across 65 regular-season games.

The Giants' interest in Jones reflects their efforts to address the defensive line void left by Lawrence's departure. The team continues to evaluate options to strengthen the unit for the upcoming season.
