The Green Bay Packers have agreed to terms with veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor to strengthen their backup quarterback depth chart. The move comes after Malik Willis joined the Miami Dolphins, leaving a void in the Packers' quarterback room.
According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Taylor, 36, has officially signed with Green Bay. Taylor spent the last two seasons with the New York Jets, appearing in six games with four starts during the 2025 season. In that span, he completed 59.7% of his passes for 779 yards, five touchdowns, and five interceptions. Additionally, Taylor contributed on the ground, rushing for 143 yards and one touchdown.
The Packers' backup quarterback position has been critical in recent years, as starter Jordan Love missed two starts each in both the 2024 and 2025 seasons. Taylor’s signing addresses this need, bringing a wealth of experience to the roster. Since entering the NFL as a sixth-round pick in 2011, Taylor has played in 100 games with 62 starts.
With Taylor on board, the Packers now have five quarterbacks on their roster, pending any further roster adjustments. The current group includes:
- Jordan Love (starter)
- Tyrod Taylor (new backup)
- Desmond Ridder
- Kyle McCord
- Kyron Drones
