Bitcoin’s four-year cycle and the rise of David Bailey, founder of BTC Inc. and CEO of Nakamoto Inc. (NASDAQ: NAKA), are the focus of a groundbreaking new documentary in production. Filmmaker Parker Worthington describes the project as a deep dive into one of Bitcoin’s most pivotal chapters.

Speaking at the Bitcoin 2026 Conference, Worthington reflected on the documentary’s journey, stating, “It’s been a long run.”

From Payments to a Public Bitcoin Company

The documentary, tentatively titled This Time Is Different, was produced in association with Michael Markle. Initially conceived as a focused exploration of Bitcoin payments, the project expanded after Worthington began documenting Bailey’s team in Puerto Rico in 2024.

Early footage captured the nascency of Nakamoto Inc., as Bailey’s team navigated discussions about going public—initially discussed in hushed terms. These discussions soon became the film’s central narrative, culminating in Nakamoto Inc.’s public launch via a reverse merger with KindlyMD and a $710 million capital raise. At the time, this was one of the largest PIPE financings ever tied to a digital asset company.

Capturing Bitcoin’s Four-Year Cycle

The documentary aims to chronicle the full arc of Bitcoin’s four-year cycle, including:

  • The highs of launching a public Bitcoin company
  • The challenges of SEC obligations and market volatility
  • The resilience required to navigate a bear market
  • The strategic consolidation of multiple entities

During a live discussion, David Bailey emphasized the film’s role in showcasing the passion behind Bitcoin’s ecosystem. He stated,

“I’m glad you got it on camera so people can see the raw passion that goes into this business. A lot of people say that people in bitcoin got lucky…this documentary shows the conviction you need to be in bitcoin.”

Worthington noted that the documentary reveals a deliberate and complex story beyond market fluctuations, highlighting the interconnected operations of Bitcoin Magazine, UTXO Management, BTC Inc., and Nakamoto’s broader media and investment arms. These entities collectively demonstrate a business with real revenue and reach.

Release Timeline and Distribution Plans

A release window of winter 2027 has been discussed, though the project may extend into 2028 depending on Bitcoin’s market cycle. The film is expected to be feature-length, with potential distribution via a streaming platform. Worthington and the team are prioritizing a standalone release before considering any series format.

Bitcoin Magazine, published by BTC Inc., is a subsidiary of Nakamoto Inc. (NASDAQ: NAKA).
