Paramount Pictures has officially set the release date for Heart Eyes 2, the sequel to Josh Ruben’s 2025 romantic comedy slasher film, for February 11, 2028.
The sequel will align with Valentine’s Day weekend, aiming to attract horror enthusiasts and couples intrigued by a darkly comedic, gory twist on the typical date night experience.
Plot Recap of the Original Film
The original Heart Eyes, released by Sony Pictures/Screen Gems in the U.S. and Paramount overseas, starred Olivia Holt and Mason Gooding as Ally and Jay, two coworkers at a marketing firm. Their lives take a terrifying turn when they are mistaken for a couple by the Heart Eyes Killer, a serial killer who targets pairs on Valentine’s Day.
As the killer hunts them down, Ally and Jay gradually discover they have genuine romantic feelings for each other.

The first film achieved modest success, grossing $33 million worldwide against a reported budget of $18 million.

Josh Ruben will direct Heart Eyes 2 and co-write the script with Darcy Fowler. The story is based on an original concept by Christopher Landon and Michael Kennedy, with Landon serving as a producer alongside Divide/Conquer.
