Cancer does not announce itself. It arrives without warning, leaving no community untouched. Nearly everyone has a story—someone they love, someone they’ve lost, or someone still fighting. At MG2, this shared reality is why Swing for the Cure, the annual event benefiting the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, holds such deep meaning.

This is not just another charity event. It is a collective response to a challenge that has touched countless lives personally. What began as a golf tournament has grown into something far greater—a movement built on resilience, hope, and unwavering commitment.

From Personal Loss to a Shared Mission

The heart of Swing for the Cure was shaped by the vision of MG2’s former CEO, Jerry Lee, whose first wife, Patricia, passed away from breast cancer. Determined that no one should endure such loss, Lee and his wife, Charlene—herself a 25-year breast cancer survivor—helped establish the event’s mission from the start. Their leadership continues to inspire the MG2 team and the broader community.

What sets Swing for the Cure apart is the bond it creates. Attendees arrive not as job titles or company representatives, but as individuals united by shared experiences. Some are survivors. Some are caregivers. Others honor loved ones they’ve lost. That connection transforms a day on the golf course into something far more powerful: a community rallying around a single goal—to fund research and bring us closer to a cure.

A Purpose-Driven Gathering

Over the years, MG2 has intentionally expanded Swing for the Cure, evolving it from a standalone event into an annual tradition rooted in purpose. The goal was never just to fundraise; it was to create an experience where people feel connected, motivated, and part of something meaningful.

Clients, partners, and colleagues attend not out of obligation, but because they believe in the cause. That sense of purpose matters. When people gather with intention—when they understand why they are there and what they are working toward—energy builds, conversations deepen, and commitment follows. Swing for the Cure proves that goodwill is not abstract; it grows when people align around a shared mission. And when cultivated thoughtfully, that goodwill benefits everyone involved.

Consistent Action, Lasting Impact

For MG2, this commitment reflects how the firm approaches its work. Just as strong design is rooted in care, collaboration, and long-term thinking, meaningful community engagement requires the same dedication. Swing for the Cure, now in its 25th year, has raised over $2 million to date. Real impact comes from showing up consistently, staying focused on the goal, and inviting others to join the effort.

Last year marked the biggest success yet. The 2025 Swing for the Cure raised $250,000. Thanks to MG2’s close partnership with Fred Hutch, every dollar goes directly to research the firm helps select, adding a deeply personal touch to the contributions.
