Silver may not ward off the dangers lurking in Subnautica 2’s oceans, but it’s an essential ingredient—especially in the early stages of the game. Knowing where to find it can save you frequent trips back to the surface and allow for deeper exploration.
Silver isn’t as abundant as other resources, and players may initially struggle to locate it. However, with the right guidance, you can efficiently gather Silver by targeting its key spawn points.

Old Habitat (367 meters north of Lifepod)
Your first opportunity to mine Silver is near the Old Habitat. NoA will notify you when you’re close, approximately 367 meters north of the Lifepod. Here’s what to look for:
- Two small Silver deposits near an Oxygen Tank at 40 meters depth.
- Additional Silver scattered near a tunnel filled with Jellyfish.
Warning: Nibbler Mangoes patrol this area, so proceed with caution.
To access more resources, locate an opening on the left side of the tunnel. Swim through the gap, descend, and turn around to find the entrance to Sophie Boucher’s Bunker. Inside, you’ll discover a Biobed for extra inventory space and additional Silver deposits—making this a near-mandatory stop for early-game progression.
Distinguishing Silver from Titanium
Silver and Titanium can be easily confused, but their appearances differ:
- Silver: Pointy and sharp.
- Titanium: Blocky and blunt.
This distinction prevents you from accidentally collecting Titanium when scavenging for Silver, which is crucial for crafting essential items like air tanks.

The Standard Air Tank requires the following materials:
- 2 Silver
- 2 Titanium (commonly found on the seabed in shallow waters; plentiful near the Lifepod)
- 1 Rubber (requires 2 Lucifer Rotsack, easily found near the Welcome Center)
Both Titanium and Rubber are abundant in the Safe Shallows—the starting biome from the original Subnautica—so you should have no trouble gathering them early on. The Standard Air Tank increases your Oxygen capacity to 75, a standard upgrade in the franchise. Don’t discard it after use; this tank is required for future upgrades.
