Hyundai has delivered a rare piece of good news in today’s car market: transparent pricing for the 2026 Elantra N TCR Edition. The sportier variant of the compact sedan was unveiled on Thursday with a starting price of $40,495 for the six-speed manual transmission, including the $1,245 destination charge. Opting for the eight-speed dual-clutch automatic raises the total to $41,995.

Buyers who choose the stick shift save money up front, marking the first bright spot in Hyundai’s announcement.

How the Elantra N TCR Edition Compares to Rivals

The second highlight is value. While the TCR Edition commands a $4,150 premium over the standard Elantra N, it remains $7,595 cheaper than a Honda Civic Type R and $1,000 less than a Toyota GR Corolla—both of which have seen price increases since launch. Power output from the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine stays at 276 hp and 289 lb-ft of torque, trailing those rivals but still competitive. Against a similarly powered Subaru WRX tS, the Hyundai undercuts by $5,745 even after the WRX’s recent price cut.

Performance Upgrades and Limited-Edition Features

The TCR Edition packs several track-inspired upgrades. A massive swan-neck rear wing, inspired by Hyundai’s Elantra N TCR race car, tops the list—though admittedly polarizing in design. The model rides on 19-inch forged alloy wheels designed to fit four-piston monobloc brake calipers, which clamp two-piece front rotors unique to the TCR Edition. Interior touches include an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel, shifter and handbrake boots, center console armrest, Performance Blue seatbelts, and exclusive badging. Performance Blue is the only paint color offered.

Hyundai has confirmed the TCR Edition will be built in limited numbers but did not disclose exact production figures. The model serves as a roadgoing celebration of Hyundai’s dominance in the TCR class, where the brand has secured six consecutive manufacturers’ championships in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge series’ TCR class.

Why Limited Editions Matter for the Elantra N

Even as a limited run, the TCR Edition underscores the Elantra N’s standing as a value leader among performance sedans. The 2024 refresh enhanced both aesthetics and functionality, reinforcing its appeal. In a segment where newsworthiness can fade between cycles, limited editions like this one boost visibility while keeping performance top of mind.
