The Jacksonville Jaguars have added depth to their running back corps with the signing of veteran Ameer Abdullah. The move was announced by the team on Monday, May 20, 2025.

Abdullah, who will turn 33 in June, brings a wealth of NFL experience to the Jaguars. Last season, he played for the Indianapolis Colts, primarily contributing on special teams while also making an impact in the backfield. During his time with the Colts, Abdullah recorded 60 rushing yards and one touchdown, along with 16 receptions for 99 yards.

Prior to his stint with the Colts, Abdullah spent three seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders. His most productive year came in 2024, when he tallied 311 rushing yards and two touchdowns, while also adding 40 catches for 261 yards and three touchdowns through the air.

A second-round draft pick of the Detroit Lions in 2015, Abdullah has played in 154 NFL games, starting 26 of them, across stints with the Lions, Minnesota Vikings, Carolina Panthers, Raiders, and Colts.

In addition to Abdullah’s signing, the Jaguars announced several roster moves:

  • Re-signed offensive lineman Sal Wormley.
  • Placed offensive lineman Jordan White on the reserve/retired list.
  • Waived running back Ja’Quinden Jackson.
