The New York Jets made three first-round selections in the 2024 NFL Draft, each tied to a shared background of championship success. Edge rusher David Bailey, tight end Kenyon Sadiq, and wide receiver Omar Cooper all played for teams that reached last season’s College Football Playoff.

Cooper’s contributions were pivotal as part of Indiana’s national title-winning squad. To secure him, the Jets traded back into the 30th overall pick, prioritizing his proven ability to elevate a team. Reflecting on his new opportunity, Cooper stated his goal is to help the Jets end their own prolonged absence from postseason success.

Head coach Aaron Glenn emphasized the significance of the players’ winning backgrounds in the draft-day decisions.

"When you have targets, you identify guys you like, you love — you go get them. And that's exactly what we did today. And any time you can bring guys with a winning background on your team, that only helps the morale of your team. So, there's a lot of things that goes into that, but to get three first-round picks and the caliber guys that we got, the personality, the mentality, the football character, all those things are huge, bringing those guys on our team."

This marks the second time in three years the Jets have drafted three first-round players in a single year, following their 2022 selections of Sauce Gardner, Garrett Wilson, and Jermaine Johnson. Of that trio, only Wilson remains on the roster. The incoming class is expected to play a key role in the franchise’s efforts to return to the playoffs and build sustained success.
