Podcaster Joe Rogan once admitted to taking random amounts of pills without regard for proper dosage, and on Sunday night, John Oliver called out the reckless behavior during a segment on Last Week Tonight.

The HBO host’s main segment in the latest episode focused on the dangers of over-the-counter drugs sold at gas stations, including supplements like Kratom. Oliver criticized Kratom for its unclear dosage instructions, which can lead users to consume more than recommended.

Oliver highlighted Rogan as a prime example, referencing a 2018 clip from The Joe Rogan Experience where the podcaster openly admitted to taking six pills at once, and once even consumed ten. Rogan then read the packaging, only to realize the recommended dose was just two pills.

“Joe. Joey. Josephine, what the f—k are you doing?” John Oliver asked. “You didn’t even know the name of the pill or how many you were supposed to take. What did you know?! Because it seems the main knowledge you had about those pills before taking them was that they were pills, and that was apparently enough for you to happily toss half a dozen of them back.”

Oliver further explained how supplements like Kratom can be just as addictive and harmful as hard drugs, warning viewers against trying them. He then returned to Rogan’s reckless behavior.

“So, if I may quote Joe Rogan, something I really don’t love to do, it’s crucial to know that this stuff could, in his words, ‘f—k you up,’” Oliver cautioned. “But unlike Joe Rogan, it’s just as crucial to not then swallow ten of them.”
