The Houston Gamblers of the UFL have signed former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback/receiver John Rhys Plumlee, the league announced on Saturday. Plumlee was listed in the announcement solely as a quarterback.
The Gamblers have faced significant injury challenges at the quarterback position this season. On Friday, they lost to the Columbus Aviators, dropping their record to 2-4.
Plumlee, who played college football at Ole Miss and UCF, entered the NFL in 2024 as an undrafted free agent. He has been part of the Steelers, Jaguars, and Seahawks organizations during his professional career.
Late in the 2024 season, Plumlee was briefly elevated to Seattle’s active roster as a receiver. He has not appeared in any regular-season NFL games.
