John Travolta was awarded the Honorary Palme d’Or at the 79th Cannes Film Festival on Friday, just before the premiere of his directorial debut, Propeller One-Way Night Coach.

The actor-turned-director joins an exclusive group of recipients, including Peter Jackson and Barbra Streisand, who have previously received the prestigious honor.

The Honorary Palme d’Or recognizes individuals for their exceptional contributions to the film industry, often celebrating a lifetime of achievement or groundbreaking work.

Travolta expressed his gratitude, calling the recognition “beyond the Oscar” in a statement shared by the festival.
