The Kansas City Chiefs have finalized the signing of fifth-round draft pick Emmett Johnson, according to the NFL’s transaction report for Monday. Johnson, a running back, agreed to a four-year contract with the team.
Head coach Andy Reid commended Johnson’s performance during last weekend’s rookie minicamp. Reid highlighted Johnson’s strengths as a receiver and pass blocker, noting that the rookie brings "a little bit" of LeSean McCoy’s playing style to the Chiefs’ offense.
Johnson was selected by the Chiefs after spending four years at the University of Nebraska. During his final collegiate season in 2025, he led all FBS players in all-purpose yards per game. He also ranked fourth nationally with 1,451 rushing yards.
