Fox News host Kayleigh McEnany has called on Republicans to adopt a more aggressive political style, citing Spencer Pratt’s performance in Wednesday’s Los Angeles mayoral debate as a model for the GOP.
McEnany praised Pratt’s debate tactics, stating that he effectively outlined a strategy for Republicans to challenge Democrats. She tweeted,
Wake up, congressional Republicans — become Spencer Pratt.
In her critique of California’s Democratic leadership, McEnany argued that the state’s handling of wildfires was incompetent. She referenced former President Donald Trump’s 2020 remarks, saying,
California needs to clean the brush. He said this in 2020. This was highly predictable, it could have been mitigated. California didn’t — they’re incompetent. Look at their streets, that’s all you have to do, a cursory glance.
McEnany continued,
Spencer Pratt was phenomenal last night. He prosecuted the case. He has laid out a model that we as the GOP, we cannot surrender blue states. We cannot surrender blue cities. We have to stand up and fight for conservatives everywhere they exist, and he has done that to great effect. Phenomenal model that everyone should look at.
She also criticized congressional Republicans for failing to pass key legislation, such as the SAVE America Act, while Democrats push policies like healthcare for illegal immigrants.
And Republicans in Congress, wake up! Get a little Spencer Pratt in you, because you just heard what they’re about to do: healthcare for illegal immigrants…potentially voting for illegal immigrants, and you guys can’t even get the SAVE America Act across the finish line? Give me a break!
Pratt, a former reality TV star, has centered his campaign on the city’s response to last year’s Palisades fires, which destroyed numerous homes, including his own. During the debate, he accused Mayor Karen Bass and Councilwoman Nithya Raman of failing Hollywood. When asked if current leadership was doing enough for the entertainment industry, Pratt replied,
Absolutely not. Both of these people have been the reason why there’s no more Hollywood.
Following the debate, NBC4 Los Angeles conducted an online poll asking viewers to vote on the winner. Pratt overwhelmingly led with 87% of the vote, while Bass received 8% and Raman 5%.
